Abstract

The dream, the formation of the unconscious that marked a before and after in Freud’s work, is still today for us — analysts — a continuous source of questions. There are some that are repetitive, insistent and, for this reason, question the dreamer. There are the placid, the bizarre, the crazy. Here, our interest is placed in anguish dreams, which have certain specificities that lead us to occupy ourselves with them. Its clinical value is crucial because anguish guides the analyst through the drifts of the real. The anguish dream as a dream of awakening leads us to question the limits of encryption, the function of censorship and, above all, its failure. Let’s distinguish them from deformed dreams and children’s dreams. The axis that crosses the question by dreams is undoubtedly a reference to the location of the desire and especially to the position of the subject in relation to this desire. We will work in a brief clinical case, to address the dreams that are repeated, their transference link and the effects that are released when they are put to work. Advancing in our investigations on the affectation of the body in the analysis leads us to anguish as a privileged affection, which, here, we will address at the edge of the dream.
