Abstract

This work interweaves some elements of Freud and Lacan with more recent research in the areas of psychoanalysis and neuroscience around the question: what is a baby? The most recent studies, as well as clinical practice, point to the need to consider that the baby plays an active role in the encounter with the Other, not being just an object to be narcissistically invested and assumed as a subject solely by the adult marked by castration.
