Gender and sexuality: knots that sustain misuderstanding
The purpose of the writing presented here is to problematize gender issues based on three psychoanalytical concepts, as discussed in Lacan's work. They are: identity, symptom and sinthome. The crossing of these points is intended to guide clinical practice, moving away from binarism or pathologization. Identity worked from the idea of shifter, the symptom as what the analysand enunciates under transference and the sinthome as a fourth knot, linking Real, Imaginary and Symbolic. The theoretical course intends to think about gender and the analytical process, putting into play the absolute difference as a guide for clinical management beyond attempts at identifying or pathologizing framings, putting into play the singularity of naming.
